Who we are
“Nook”, “we” and “us” mean Nook AI, the maker of the Nook app and this website. “You” means the person using either.
The app
The app is licensed to you, not sold. The licence included with the download says what you may do with it; where these terms and that licence differ, the licence wins. That licence is the Nook software licence, which you can read from Settings › About in the app, together with the third-party notices for the open-source work Nook is built on.
Within that licence, you may install Nook on computers you control and use it for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial. You may not pass off a modified build as Nook, or use the Nook name or mark for a product of your own.
Models and engines belong to others
Nook runs open-source engines — llama.cpp, whisper.cpp and stable-diffusion.cpp — and models you download from Hugging Face. Each engine and each model has its own licence, and some model licences restrict commercial use or require attribution. Downloading a model through Nook does not change its licence. You are responsible for complying with the licence of any model you use, and for what you make with it.
The tools you connect
Nook works alongside tools you already use — Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and Cursor. Your use of those tools is governed by their own terms. Nook is not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI or Cursor, and their names and marks belong to them.
What the models say
Local models can be wrong, and a digest of a long file is by nature a selection. That is why every Nook result carries file and line references: so your agent, and you, can check the source before acting on it. Decisions made on the basis of Nook's output are yours. Figures on this website about tokens or money saved are illustrations of how the arithmetic works, not a measurement of your usage or a promise about it.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app or this site to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to interfere with this site or with services the app connects to. Do not remove or alter licence and copyright notices.
No warranty
The app and this site are provided as they are and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will run on any particular hardware, that a model will load, or that output will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss — including lost data, lost profits, and the cost of tokens or compute — arising from the app or this site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free download is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
We may change these terms; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the app or the site after a change means you accept it. If you do not, stop using them and delete the app.
Your local law
Nothing in these terms takes away a protection that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be overridden by agreement.
